Coaching points
- Get topside to the island, the 5-and-5 spot. The goal is your first look; the wing you run at clears through backdoor and the crease man gets far and away.
- Most youth and high school defenses do not know how to slide to a ball coming from behind and send an extra man (LaxLibrary). Find who he left: the cutter at the top of the crease, the back pipe, or a step-down up top.
- If the crease defender slides to X, the man who popped is open for an outside shot (Lacrosse Unlimited, UVM).
- Nothing open? Throw it back to the man who rotated to X. He catches, squares and drives hard the other way.
- Who fills X is your call: the backside wing (Lacrosse Unlimited, Kaley and Donovan, UVM's typed pages), or the dodge-side wing after his clear-through (UVM's drawn page, the version).
