Zone 2-3 (MDD)
A straight 2-3 zone man-down: two up, three low, hold your area and make them shoot from outside.

No rotation, no chasing — each man owns an area and stays in it. The three low defenders form a wall in front of the crease so nothing gets inside; the two up top take away the point and the top skips. The trade is explicit: you concede the outside shot to eliminate the inside one, so it only works if your goalie is seeing the ball well. Many coaches run the mirror 3-2 (three up, two low) against an EMO that lives up top — same rules, flipped shape. Drawn against the same six-man umbrella as the other three man-down entries, which is exactly the EMO this zone is the wrong answer to: the umbrella lives up top, and there are only two of you up there.
