Coaching points
- On the whistle decide: shoot, pass or run. Fire right away, take one or two steps and fire, or dodge as close to goal as you can.
- Inside shot: drive away from the defender nearest your shooting hand. A righty on a middle hash takes her first step to the left.
- Never shoot with anyone in your shooting lane, whistle or not: it's a dangerous shot. If the lane closes, pass and reset.
- Set it up by your rules: NCAA puts the shooter on a hash next to the center hash and clears the 8 and the restricted area; NFHS uses the hash nearest the foul and clears the penalty zone.
