Coaching points
- A ground ball or a bad pass puts the ball on the reverse side, the goalie's top-right, and there's no time to carry it across the field. Don't try: push into the slot, the open space in the middle (LaxLibrary).
- First look is always the goal. If the top man is late, keep coming and shoot on the run. When he steps up, run it like a standard break: to the point, down to the backside man, across to the dump man.
- Attack, react to the carrier's side: the point rotates across so the L sits opposite him, and the low men stay where they are. Their names follow the ball: the low man on the carrier's side is now the near pipe, the dump man. Bring the ball in from the goalie's top-right in practice so they learn to balance the box (LaxLibrary).
- Their defense first has to see which side you came down, a righty or a lefty break (Xcelerate). This is a different play from the standard break, not the same one turned round.
