Coaching points
- Clamp, then rake or push it out to your left, into space where your wing can run through it. It's lacrosse's tip-off: get it to a teammate sprinting in.
- Wing: run through the ball and scoop it on the move. Don't stop and bend over for it.
- Some coaches line their pole up on your left to take that exit away (Bill Tierney, Princeton), so your wing has to win his wing to get there first. If he can, it is ours; if not, keep it yourself or pull it back.
- No fast break? Give it up and settle, and your face-off man comes off for an offensive middie.
