Coaching points
- Know who takes the top of the triangle and who takes each low before every face-off. Not agreeing on it in advance is one of the most common mistakes on face-off breaks (Lax Goalie Rat).
- When they win it going forward, drop: the top man about 12 yards out, the two lows about 2 yards up and 3 over. Keep it tight.
- Wings and middies, sprint to the hole and defend inside out. Their fast break only lasts until one of you gets back.
- Hold until the carrier is a real threat (about 12 yards), then the top man goes to him. On the pass, the lows rotate, first step to the middle.
