Coaching points
- Use it when your goalie handles outside shots well, or their top shooters are weak.
- The three low men lock their men: the two low corners and the crease man never get an easy catch.
- Two checkers play three shooters up top. Play lower than normal, even with the ball high. Pressure a shooter only when he comes inside the distance you agree on before the game.
- The manual's own warning: "While there is less pressure on the shooters, a defender cannot give up an uncontested shot." Less pressure is never a free shot.
- No rotation. From the Canadian coaching manual.
How it was checked
Only one source describes it: one coach’s or one program’s own take. We found no second source to check it against. Coach’s variation from the Canadian coaching manual.
