Coaching points
- When she beats her defender and has a lane to goal, someone, usually the goalie, yells "Crash!" The defenders around her collapse in the arc and converge on the ball. The lows stay home and pinch in on their own girls, so the dump pass at the pipe is never open: the girl left open is the one farthest from the ball.
- Any pass into the middle is a crash too: feet in, sticks in, no contact.
- Crash, then get out. In the 8 you are on the 3-second clock unless you mark within a stick's length, and you can't sit in her shooting space.
- US Lacrosse warns that zones crash harder, so they get called for 3 seconds more often.
