Coaching points
- Pass, then cut right away. Timing is everything: look for it at once, because once it is gone, it is gone.
- Cut through the middle of the 8 looking for a step on your defender. Never cut toward the girl you passed to: you bring your defender into a double.
- The feeder keeps her feet moving, protects her stick, and throws to where the cutter will be, not where she is.
- If you're covered, cycle all the way through and fill a spot that's open. This is US Lacrosse's Pass Then Cut, also taught by Achieve Lacrosse and Columbia.
- Back up the shot: the low attacker on the far side sprints for the end line as the shot goes. On a shot that goes out, the nearest player gets the ball.
