Coaching points
- The ball goes round behind the cage and up to the wing. The far defender calls it: she sends the low defender on the near side up to double the ball with the wing defender.
- At the same moment, the other low defender slides across the crease to take the doubler's place.
- Under high school rules, a field defender doesn't go through the goal circle: slide round it. A goal-circle defender marking a player directly behind is exempt from 3 seconds, but not from shooting space.
- From Fresno State's Defensive Crease Slide drill in the IWLCA drill book: four on four, two behind and two at the elbows.
